Maddie had a visit with the pediatric cardiologist today.  After having a routine echo for a murmur,  we found out she has a bicuspid aortic valve with stenosis. This is actually a fairly common issue with girls with Turner's Syndrome. Basically the aortic valve should have three leaflets and in this case, they have fused together so there are only two. The concern is the ability for oxygen rich blood to flow freely from the heart to the aorta. The Cardiologist felt that her flow was not terribly concerning at this point so we really just need to have annual screenings with Echocardiograms. She's such a trooper, this girl! So proud of her ability to deal with adversity and prodding with such humor and heart....even if it is a little wonky.
