So Garret's birthday is the 11th (after Christmas and Gavin's birthday) so the jokes were flying: "You got your present!" (see the cuteness above) and "you are never getting another birthday celebration now...". So, with what little energy I had, we threw him a "party". I didn't want him to feel jipped as Christmas-time babies often do. Tamra had brought N. Carolina BBQ pulled pork when she was down that was still in the freezer so we had a feast! Mom made her German potato salad, Monique attempted to replicate a local bakery's cookie cake (she almost nailed it!) and I made baked beans. It was delish! And right up his alley....food, family, cookie cake...what could be better?!
When we had our last cold front, Garret complained he had no blanket for lounging...the one throw we have on the couch doesn't fully cover him up. Soooo....I made him a fuzzy, felt FSU throw to snuggle up in (and I figured it would have dual purpose when Gavin is bigger to use on the floor since we have hard wood floors). SCORE!
The birthday boy and his baby were all tuckered out. So sweet. I hope he enjoyed his day...he deserves the best for being the amazing husband and father he is!
On an unrelated note, Maddie has been quite naughty and extra sassy. We're trying to be patient and remember it's a huge change for her however, the rules of our family still apply. She certainly loves her brother and dotes on him, she just acts out with us. Hopefully it will improve. That or the four walls of her room are going to become increasingly familiar!
