It was nice though, in spite of all that mess. So many fun festivities! Garret had to go to class the day of my actual birthday so the weekend before he surprised me with paddle boarding, lunch at my fave restaurant and a beautiful bracelet....all sans kiddos (that was present enough! :).
It was down on Naples Beach which is soooo much nicer than the brown sludge currently making our beach look like a swamp.
It wasn't as hard as I thought....of course there was no one to take a photo of us standing, but I swear we did it...for like a whole hour! We even saw a pod of dolphins up close (after the 100th episode I had been watching of Shark Week, that first fin freaked me out, not gonna lie).
We then went to The Fish House....yum. Between the rum runners, crab dip and fish tacos, it was kinda like my version of Heaven. My hubs just knows exactly what I need. He's truly my best friend! Perfect day with the perfect man!
That weekend, we had the usual girls' get together! This time Colleen, Trisha and I decided to combine our August Birthdays since it's getting increasingly difficult for us all to get together! It was so relaxing! Trisha's brother has a condo downtown with this amazing pool on the river! We then went downtown for dinner, drinks and dancing. Loved every minute! Quality time with my ladies=happy birthday to me.
The day after my birthday we decided to do something fun and rent scooters on the beach. Trisha and Jay...being part of our scooter gang and all, decided to join us. We're thinking it outta be an annual event. Until our licences are revoked by our grand kids anyway....
And on my "real" birthday, Mom made me home-made lasagna! Oh, and the COLD STONE, yes, cold.stone.cake....I died. And certainly didn't lose any of that extra baby weight. Whatevs. So worth it.
I know Buddy. 39...I'm bummed about it too.....
