Summer Bucket List Update!

So with our trip to North Carolina (that post to follow!), we crossed a few things off the ole' bucket list!

First, ROAD TRIP!! I was so pleasantly surprised at how well the kids did (even the big, sassy one...and I don't mean Garret!). They were so good and patient...at times more than we grown-ups, I think!

A fort...um, not sure if a blanket propped over a couple barstools counts, but they sure liked it....

Next, tubing! Little man couldn't go...the water was a bit rough from all the rain they've been having but he got to chill in a boat. Kinda wish I was 6 months old...

And Maddie's FAVE.....fireflies! We don't have them here in Florida....at least not this far south and she thinks it's amazeballs. Can't.Even. Handle.It. She caught her very first one mid air....

Daddy was pretty pumped up about it....

Ahhhhh, and my fave...Smores by a campfire. I mean...it's kinda like Heaven. Cool temps, warm, crackling fire alongside the stream, lightening bugs flying all around like little twinkling stars....you kinda drifted off just then didn't ya??

And finally...fishing-ish. I say ish because the act of fishing apparently involves actually catching one. Humpf.  It takes forever and I am still skeptical that a fish, being carried by what was a fairly strong current is gonna just stop mid-swim, grab my pathetic-looking fly thingie to risk certain death. Whatevs. We did, however find some cool river glass for a yet unknown Pinterest project. So it was a success, I say!!

Maddie is, um, four?!

Well....the girl turned four. No one asked me if it was ok. I mean, I was kinda looking forward to it because I kept hearing how much "easier" four gets....um, as of this post, I have yet to witness this phenomenon. Anyhoo....
She awoke to a door full of balloons and a custom-made crown, courtesy of my good friend Georgia at

Daddy got her Bennett's Donuts which are uh-mah-zing. I'm kinda thinking I want a tiara and donuts for my birthday....

And, because it is her most favoritist activity, she wanted to swim!

Since we were staying on the beach, we thought Parrot Key would be fun...right on the water, good food, music....She wanted a "big girl" drink. Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri...with whipped cream. Add the liquor and again, it's kinda my ideal day...just sayin'.

Since I'm kind of a psycho about photos (What?! Moi??), I had to catch the beautiful sunset with the birthday girl....

PARTY TIME!!! We did a beachy, vintage mermaid thing....Maddie loves all things beach/swimming/ mermaid related, so I once again stole all of my ideas from Pinterest....and pathetically attempted to carry them out. She liked it, fumbles and all!

My Birthday Princess and Sweet Pirate (I know they aren't supposed to be sweet but come onnnn...look at him!!).

I know she's standing there innocently, but  I can't help but feel she may have had something to do with this....

As per the above photo, the weather was looking ominous so we thought we'd head in. When we go to the hotel, it just magically cleared up so we all headed to the pool!

Because I'm 12 mentally, I challenged Nathan to a diving contest. Um, he won. That is all I will say about that.

  Our little fishy!!

And one final dinner before heading back to the mainland....

 My whole world....

Happy 4th Birthday to the only person that can bring me to the brink of insanity and then to my knees with gratitude..I love you baby girl!! XOXO
